2. firmware files

a. xxx.rst : when you upgrade this kind of firmware to router, it will reset router setting to default value. if your local distributor has special setting for you, please do not use this firmware. you need to download it from local distributor's web site.

b. xxx.all : normal firmware ( will not change router setting ).

3.click  start > programs > router tools > router firmware upgrade utility  to launch the firmware upgrade utility .

click the browse [...] button to specify the new firmware file. enter password of router if any. the program can search for any vigor routers on your lan and display them by ip for choosing . select the ip address of the router to upgrade or you can set router ip manually, then press "send". the upgrading procedure will be started and the status will be shown on the progress bar. once upgrading is completed,wait approximately 30 seconds and the router will be ready (act will resume flashing normally).

(2) firmware upgrading through ftp client            [top]

before upgrading or backup your router firmware or configuration, you need to install the ftp client application(eg. ie or any ftp client tools). the following steps will guide you through upgrading/backup procedure.

1.click checkbox of "enable remote firmware upgrade(ftp)" in main >> system management >> management setup.
